Good Morning,
So project 1 had started a couple of weeks ago so i thought i would spend today's post talking about what i have done so far and recap. From here on in i will keep posting more often with updates!
For this project i have to link Theory with Practice which means anything i write about for my dissertation needs to feed into my creative work and the same, my creative feeds the writing!
So as a fan of mid century design and textiles i have decided to ask the question:
How did 1950s surface pattern design help bring Britain out of a state of Postwar depression?
i have already found some really interesting things out with all my research and decided to draw furniture from that decade to later abstract and repeat!
Here are some of the initial drawings and initial collages i have created and i have explored colours, abstraction and new (to me) ways of drawing with inks!!
I have also started to create pattens and textures and even started to abstract shapes into Atomic style motifs!
Many of my designs for this project are created through collage which later can be screen printed or scanned in and digital printed!
I usually use digital means of design but i am loving the new shapes i am creating through cutting and i also like the not so graphic look.
I hope i have brought you all up to date with what i am creating :)
I will be posting my inspirations along the way and really try to do at least 1 post a week :)
Ps. After catching up with whats what, all this writing will reduce and more of my creative work will be posted alongside notes!!
