Yesterday i decided to go into uni to be creative and just have a day to switch off from the writing side. To be honest i have found writing this week a bit overwhelming so i just removed myself from it for just one day!
I managed to get onto the laser cutter (as uni was very quiet) and i cut out some simple furniture shapes :)
my papers all had different textures on them to really add some depth to my designs!
This is a pretty pattern my friend created with my cut outs :) i think its ace!!
just a snap shot of the laser cutter at uni - this is birtwell!!
Anyhow, i am doing my project based upon the 1950s surface pattern design so i have created some atomic looking motifs from the negative spaces of the cut out shapes!
one word which could by used to describe the meaning of what i am creating is "Ontology" - the meaning of existance!!
these are my, somewhat, contemporary motifs which are inspired by the atomic era. However the interesting shapes are created from the negative spaces (left overs) from my cuttings which i have placed down onto paper. the idea is that you get a sence that objects exsisted but is no longer there! (abstracted) - i gotta say myself; its mind boggling!!!
